Dr. Marije van Dalen is a postdoctoral researcher with an interest in digital interventions and child and adolescent psychology. Her work focusses on studying eHealth and mHealth interventions to improve mental well-being of children with a chronic somatic illness. She is a principal investigator on the My Digital Friend Project, in which she has developed a preconsultation chatbot for adolescents with a chronic illness that have been referred to psychological care. Other work includes the Grow It! app, an RCT on a preventive mHealth app for children aged 10 to 18. She is also PI on a project studying experiences of parents expecting a child with a cleft lip.
She obtained her PhD in paediatric psychology in January 2022. Her PhD thesis focused on an online psychological intervention for adolescents with a visible difference, as well as the mental well-being of parents of children with a visible difference. As part of her PhD, she spent three months at the Center for Appearance Research in Bristol, England.
